QUARANTINE DEVOTIONAL
So hear me out, it took me a long time to dive into the book of Revelations because of many reasons. I am a super anxious overthinking person that watches way too many movies so you could only imagine where my mind would go reading this book. However, right now as the world is experiencing chaos and uncertainty, I felt a strong urge to push through my own issues and distractions and get straight into it. I hope and pray that as you begin reading this short devotional God comes through in a mighty way for you.
Be blessed!
WARNING IS LOVE
Day 1
God warns us in several different ways throughout the Bible of things to come, but ultimately all these warnings come from love. Warnings are not to cause any anxiety and panic. He reassures us in Matthew 6:25-27 that He has everything under control. He basically said, not word for word, that being anxious will not add not even an hour to your life. So why get comfortable in worry that’ll turn into anxiety that’ll just put space between you and the source of all peace?!
So when reading the book of Revelations, I found that through all the messages sent to the churches in the first few chapters of the book (2-3), we see God holding people accountable and warning them of what is to come.
The reality is this, these messages given to these churches are very much so still relevant to the churches of today. We are the church, so as you read these chapters understand that you might just be reading your mirror image.
Truly, I had a difficult time reading some of the messages to some of the churches and I felt an internal battle stirring up within me. Which is why I strongly suggest praying before, praying during, and praying after reading this book.
But overall, how good it is to serve a God that gives chances. You know how people jokingly say, “I wish God could just come down and sit next to me and tell me what to do.” well honestly He shares what NOT to do or rather what we should STOP and TURN AWAY from, in love!
He warns us with love.
He warns us with accountability.
He warns us with security.
